Mahan Esfahani - Harpsichord

PROGRAMME

JS Bach Well-Tempered Clavier Book 1

Mahan Esfahani is one of the most entertaining musicians performing today. He has brought the harpsichord to a whole new audience with his adventurous, genre-crossing projects, and his interpretations of Bach, Rameau and others have earned him fans and accolades across the globe. Continuing our exploration of the 24hour daily cycle, Mahan will perform one of Bach’s greatest masterpieces: Book 1 of the Well-Tempered Clavier. Consisting of a set of Preludes and Fugues in all of the 24 major and minor keys, this is a unique opportunity to explore the unique flavour of each key – the scales that form the basis of composition in western classical music – by one of Bach’s greatest contemporary interpreters.

We are delighted that this concert is a joint production with Music on the Quantocks, who will also be selling some of the seats.

This is a full-length concert with an interval.
